Be the Chicest Wedding Guest (+ Our Top Picks for the Most Stunning Guest Outfits We've Seen)

Every wedding is an opportunity, a joy, no—a DUTY!—to dress to the nines and showcase your style and elegance.

As photographers, and French ones at that… we have an eye for detail and, of course, our (arrogant) opinions to share!

So, if you're feeling uninspired or still unsure… here are our favorites to help you be "La plus belle pour aller Danser" (meaning: the belle of the ball - a nod to a famous French song).

Handbags:

Let's start with what completes the look: handbags!

As huge Yves Saint Laurent fans, we'll begin with three options. First up, "le 5 à 7 Supple Baby" for its dazzling look! You're not heading to the office, so go ahead and embrace the sparkle! This ultra-feminine bag is a statement piece all on its own.

Let's take a moment to appreciate its very French name: "le 5 à 7"! No, we're not talking about happy hour, haha! In France, "Le 5 à 7" often refers to a discreet, romantic rendezvous after work.

Next up is "Le Voltaire in Box." With its double handle and gold hardware, this bag adds a sophisticated touch that we simply "adore"! Choose a color that complements your outfit or go for black if you're looking for something more versatile.

We love them all! It's so hard to pick just three!

Finally, we're going with the Jamie 4.3 Mini in Hot Sahara because we love photographing guests whose colors pop (especially next to an elegantly understated partner in a classic suit).

With YSL, don't worry about making the wrong choice; just GO FOR IT.

But Saint Laurent isn't the only option! Our special mentions:

Chanel Handbag
Of course the Chanel Iconic Handbag

It's not just black that goes with everything! Pair your colorful dress with white!

Shoes:

Another way to complete your look.

Let’s stick with our compatriot: Christian Louboutin, of course. If you've splurged on the handbag, the classic and sexy "Loubigirl," "Loubi Queen," or "Kate" styles elegantly finish off any outfit. Otherwise, step it up a notch with the "Choca Lux," with its pointed toe reminiscent of Valentino, but with that very "girly" buckle on the side.

Speaking of "Valentino," the "Rockstud" remains a classic despite being widely seen and continues to reinvent itself in various versions.

Special mention goes to this set worn by the bride's sister:

Photographed a few years ago, this Valentino and Asos dress ensemble remains one of our favorite outfits.

As for YSL (we couldn't resist), the "LIZA sandals" are our top pick.

Finally, if you love red (and prefer a modest heel), the "Patent Leather Slingback Pumps" by Prada will add a touch of Italian "Dolce Vita" to your look.

Outfits:

When it comes to outfits, the choices are endless! Unless you're invited to weddings every weekend… you're going to have to make some tough decisions!

Staying in Europe, if we turn to the UK, Victoria Beckham offers the "Ruched Detail Floor-Length Gown" or a "Lace Detail Cami Top In Black" jumpsuit with a very "Garden Party" vibe.

From Italy (despite the French name), "Chiara Boni La Petite Robe" offers the elegant "Beaurisse Ruffled Sheath Dress," and we're in love with the "Thomas Ruffled Halter Gown" in Topazio color.

Outside of Europe, take a look at Australian brands like Hansen & Gretel with their "Clara Bias Dress Butter," featuring a stunning backless dress, or "L’Idée" (yes, another French name, haha!) with the "Renaissance Split Gown" and a convenient "wedding guest" category on their website!

In short: Above all, your best allies in your search will be the combination of "Vogue," "Emily in Paris," and a good old Google image search! Questions? Looks to share? Feel free to post them in the comments! We love it!"
